The Association VerginiSanità was created with the purpose of promoting projects for the requalification of the urban area between Borgo Vergini and Rione Sanità.
The enhancement and restoration of the environmental and architectural heritage are essential instruments for improving the quality of life, safety and social growth.
The Association has been promoting and organising guided visits, shows, exhibitions, cultural events together with many partners, Public Bodies, Societies, Cooperatives, Schools, Retailers and subjects operating in the Vergini-Sanità area since 2010, driven by the experience and team work of its founding members and their ties with the local community.
It has successfully organised various events in Borgo Vergini for encouraging respect of public spaces.
It has promoted projects for the requalification of urban spaces and historic buildings, in collaboration with the University Federico II, with the professional Associations of Architects and Engineers of Naples and with Civic Committees.
The Association has managed the archaeological site of the Acquedotto Augusteo del Serino, which can be visited in the underground floor of the Peschici-Maresca building, property of the Arciconfraternita dei Pellegrini, since 2014.
It has been working with FAI since 2016, when the site was included among the places of the Giornate di Primavera [Springtime Days dedicated to sightseeing] and the FAI Marathon. [FAI is an association that adopts and preserves cultural properties, similar to the British National Trust]
It joined “EXTRAMANN” in 2017. This is a partnership project between the Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN) and the network of new organisations committed to the enhancement of the neglected and scarcely known cultural heritage of the city.
The Association has elaborated, drawn and promoted the first Map of the area Vergini Sanità – 2011 and 2013 editions, the Map of the Miracoli area for the Premio Napoli 2011 and, recently, the Map “Borgo Vergini – Luoghi di Cultura”. [Borgo Vergini – Places of Culture]
Underneath the Arches is a program for contemporary art that takes place at the archeological site Acquedotto Augusteo del Serino.
